Areas of Competence: I am trained to work with adults and adolescents, individuals and couples. I have had instruction in using an integrative approach to human problems that may focus on distorted thoughts and beliefs, unconscious processes, finding meaning in life, and or the regulation of emotion.

The Course of Therapy: In my view therapy is a collaborative process that involves considerable effort on the part of both therapist and client. During the first session we will explore the possibility of our working together. I will ask questions about the challenges that have caused you to seek help and I will endeavor to answer your questions about the process of therapy. During the second session we will discuss a plan for your treatment that will be tentative and subject to change based on our mutual agreement. This plan will be revisited at least every 90 days. It is important that you realize that occasionally during therapy problems that were beneath the surface, masked by day to day events, come to the surface. At these junctures it may seem that your problems are worsening. I ask you to persevere as this is often a sign that significant positive growth is about to occur. If however, you believe that my methods are truly not helping you, I will make reasonable efforts to help you find another practitioner. If at some point during our work together I am not available to you during an emergency please call the state-wide crisis line (1-888-568-1112) or go to the closest emergency room.

Confidentiality: All communication between you and I will be held in the strictest confidence with the following exceptions:
1. Where there is threat of serious harm to self or others
2. Where there is reasonable suspicion of child abuse     or abuse of  an elder or an incapacitated person
3. In response to a court order
4. With voluntary release signed by yourself or your guardian
5. In my defense against legal action or formal complaint made by you before the court or regulatory board
6. During supervisory consultation

Supervision: To ensure quality services I receive regular supervision by a licensed counseling professional.

Fee Schedule: My hourly fee is $80.00. However, I am willing to discuss a lower rate based on your ability to pay. I accept cash, checks, and MaineCare. I do not accept private insurance.
